Going Quackers in Camden, Maine
CAMDEN, MAINE: You are invited to the West Bay Rotary ‘Duck Derby’ in the Megunticook River on Saturday morning, May 26th at 10:30 AM……this is the first time in 19 years that this event has been ‘floated’ and it is sure to be a fun and exciting time!
Bring the family and watch as 2500 yellow ducks are plunged into the frothing Megunticook River just below Washington Street for a mad dash down the river, under Main Street, enduring a daredevil plunge over the falls and into the harbor.
There is still plenty of time to get ‘dibs on a duck’ to win one of 6 great prizes – the first of which is a week at the Vanderbilt Beach Resort in Naples, FL and $1000 for travel or spending! West Bay Rotarians will be selling tickets at French & Brawn on Saturday and on the day of the race. $5 per duck or 5 ducks for $20…..and, as always, all proceeds go to the support of our community through local non-profits and charities.
In addition, local establishments are vying for bragging rights in the ‘Business Duck Competition’ – watch for their festive creations in storefronts and at the Camden Town Office. All of the ‘dressed up ducks’ will be on display at the Camden Library on the day of the race after having been judged by members of the Interact Club at Camden Hills High School.
This event will be all its ‘quacked up to be’! Come to downtown Camden, enjoy the race, support our local businesses and share a whole lot of community spirit!
