The Thomaston Historical Society is an active group with many offerings: free meetings with guest speakers; historic materials for publications; celebrating the birthday of General Henry Knox each July with The General Henry Knox Museum; opening a historic home in December during "Home for the Holidays"; and running a museum where one can learn the history of the town beginning with the first exploration by an Englishman in 1605.
