The purpose of this Society shall be to encourage the building and sailing of Friendship Sloops, to provide a medium for owners and friends to meet and enjoy each other around a common interest, and to promote the history and traditions of the Friendship Sloop.

An all-volunteer organization founded in 1942, UMCC is dedicated to the support of 50 local charities providing social, medical, and educational services to residents of the Mid-Coast area. 100% of all contributions are distributed amongst the agencies with the greatest need.

Our organization represents the broad range of businesses and organizations flourishing on our island. Vinalhaven Island is twelve miles off the coast of Maine, a working island of striking natural beauty. We have a year round population of about 1200 people, and welcome many more from around the world in the summer months. The village of Vinalhaven is located on Carver’s Harbor on the southern end of the island, a short walk from the terminal.
Five Town Communities That Care is a Midcoast-based non-profit organization dedicated to promoting healthy youth through prevention and community education. To achieve this, the coalition uses a community-based, data-driven process to identify priority areas for action, determine how to fill existing gaps with proven prevention programming and methods, and to mobilize the community for action. In addition to acting locally, we also provide training and consulting related to our mission.
The Island Institute is a membership-based community development organization focusing on the Gulf of Maine, particularly the 15 year-round island communities off the Maine coast. Working to make Maine better for bicycling, and the voice of all Maine bicyclists. For 20 years we have advocated successfully for better, safer conditions on Maine's bike trails, paths, and roads. From the Capitol in D.C. to the Statehouse in Augusta to communities across the state. We work to educate cyclists and motorists about safely sharing our roads.

The Thomaston Historical Society is an active group with many offerings: free meetings with guest speakers; historic materials for publications; celebrating the birthday of General Henry Knox each July with The General Henry Knox Museum; opening a historic home in December during "Home for the Holidays"; and running a museum where one can learn the history of the town beginning with the first exploration by an Englishman in 1605. Open in the summer Tues.-Thurs. 2-4 p.m. Free admission.

A non-profit conservation organization that works with landowners to establish a system of conservation lands that permanently protects biological diversity, scenic landscapes, and natural resources, and to provide opportunities for the public to enjoy and experience natural lands.
