Where To Stay

Whether you're visiting here for a night, a week, or a month, you'll find a warm welcome and convenient, comfortable lodgings. To find one that's just right for you, explore these choices, then follow the links to easy-to-search directories for each category.

Bed & Breakfasts

You'll be welcomed in any of our B&Bs with personalized hospitality and luxurious accommodations. Many are run from classic New England structures that are furnished with antiques and period reproductions yet offer modern amenities such as whirlpool tubs and internet access.

Make yourself at home, and enjoy a cup of tea while you read in the parlor, or stroll the gardens before coming in to sample the afternoon treats that B&Bs often set out for their guests. Each morning, your friendly hosts will cook up their special recipes, served with good conversation and local knowledge of what to see and do. Because the owners live on the premises, they take personal pride in their service and pleasure in their work.

Campgrounds

One of the best ways to experience Maine's scenic beauty is to choose one of our area's campgrounds. Whether you stay in a cabin or in your own tent or recreational vehicle, you can be as close to nature as you like. Take advantage of a variety of facilities designed for campers' comfort and convenience. All of our member campgrounds provide salt- or freshwater views and access, and they are within an easy drive of nearby towns for shopping, dining, and entertainment.

Full-Service Inns

The major difference between a B&B and a full-service inn is the opportunity to enjoy dinner at your place of lodging. In most cases, full-service inns are also larger, with more rooms than the average B&B. Almost all also offer historic surroundings and rooms decorated with antiques and period reproductions.

Smaller inns usually have more intimate dining rooms and may serve dinner only to their house guests; some require advance reservations. You may also find a limited or fixed-price menu. Sometimes dinner is served only at a specified hour. The larger inns are more like hotels, with full restaurants, more extensive menus, and regular dining hours for two or more meals per day.

Hotels, Motels & Cottages

There are inns, hotels, and motels right in our villages, others conveniently located along Route 1 just a few minutes from town, and still others nestled in countryside and seaside settings. Some larger properties feature swimming pools, suites of rooms, and on-site dining. Cabins or cottages, which evoke a nostalgic feeling and provide the privacy and quiet of a separate little "house," are often tucked among the evergreens or perched by the water.

You can count on a sincere welcome at any of these accommodations, as none is too large to ever be impersonal. During your stay, feel free to ask owners or managers for suggestions about local activities and attractions.

Lodging by the Week

Want to settle in for a while? Choose from a quaint Victorian home in the village, a housekeeping cottage overlooking the water, or a cozy cabin on a pristine lake. Whatever you decide, it's the perfect opportunity to take full advantage of all that Camden, Rockland, Rockport, Thomaston, St George, Owls Head, the islands, and Lincolnville have to offer.

A longer stay is the just the prescription for the perfect vacation. Take time to relax upon your arrival from the comfort and privacy of a home or cottage. Once you're rejuvenated, you'll find plenty of time for sightseeing on a windjammer in one of our exceptional harbors, touring our world-class museums and galleries, sampling a lobster overlooking the ocean, or taking in a show at one of our restored Victorian opera houses.
